Film? What's that?

I finished my first week at KU today. It's going ok so far. I've got quite a mess to clean up in both the old darkroom and on the servers. I guess everyone liked the last photographer. But it's safe to say that he wasn't one to be organized. I think I've already turned some heads in the two big barrels of trash that I've thrown away. Today the big barrel included about 20 bulk rolls of film and dozens of single rolls of film.

Why did it all get thrown away? Because all of it was expired. The newest film I could find expired in 2002. The oldest, as you can see, expired more than 20 years ago when I was only nine years old. I feel like these rolls of film are like so many kids today: they all had potential but no one exposed them to all the great things in life. Might sound corny, but think of all the wonderful moments that weren't captured.
