On Location – Lincolnville

Angie and I made a quick trip to Manhattan on Sunday to meet Brian and Emily's new baby boy, who you can meet over on the Heartland blog. Along the way, I did something that I've never done before. I stopped in Lincolnville. Now, I think it's safe to say that I've driven through Lincolnville hundreds of times. First, there were the countless trips to see Aunt Bearl as a kid. Then, there were the numerous trips back and forth between school and home when I was at K-State. Needless to say, I know US 77 pretty well. Even before I learned to drive, I knew the way to Manhattan. But in all those trips, I never stopped in Lincolnville. So on Sunday we stopped and discovered that Lincolnville has a downtown! Who knew?

It also, apparently, has an Octoberfest. We missed the party by a day but the decorations were still impressive.

The streets were lined with hand-painted pumpkins.

The best part, though, was the Prairie Pots port-a-potty. It says something about the size of your town when you only need one port-a-potty to accommodate all the festival goers.

Speaking of going, I had to. So I went. Sure, a little weird to use a port-a-potty there, but when you gotta go, you gotta go. This sign put me at ease.

And now I know where you can probably get a good deal on a used sink.
