Harley was in rare form this past weekend. Wait, who am I kidding? Harley's always cute! Saturday morning we opened her crate. Usually she jumps right in bed with us but on this day she ran to her toy box and grabbed a stuffed bone and took it back to her "room." She's become really comfortable in her crate. Here, she watches as momma leaves the room.


Saturday afternoon, she took a little nap with me on the couch. She normally doesn't let me hold her upside down for very long but on Saturday she just sunk into me. I think I heard a little puppy snore.


The best came on Sunday. Angie and I usually spend an hour looking at the paper. Angie reads the wedding announcements and the ads while I actually read the paper, you know, those four editorial sections that wrap around the ads that everyone buys it for. There's usually a couple of interesting stories in there on Sunday. You should try it. Anyway, Harley decided I'd been reading the paper long enough and pulled her blankie over and just sat right on top of the sports section. "Look at me, Dad. You've looked at the paper enough!" What can I say, old habits are hard to break. Seriously, I couldn't make this stuff up!

As Angie was leaving for work this morning Harley started running through the apartment like a mad woman and then jumped right in her toy box. She doesn't usually stay there long enough to get a picture of it but she did today. It looked just like she was begging Angie not to leave. "Please? Pretty please??? Don't you see my puppy dog eyes?!! You can see them, right??!!!" And do you know the best part about this picture? Angie took it!

I've been having too much fun with the Nikon 10.5 fisheye lens. This is my mobile office, stopped at the corner of Douglas and Edgemoor while waiting to make a left turn.

I placed a blanket over the window in the office/guest room so that i could concentrate on toning photos yesterday. Harley wasn't too happy about that because it blocked her view. Since she gets everything she wants, I raised the blinds enough so that she could get behind the blanket and look out.


Later in the afternoon I used Harley as a test subject for a fisheye lens I'm borrowing for a couple of weeks from Nikon. This is what it looks like to be sniffed by Harley.

Angie and I went to Tulsa on Saturday to celebrate Callie's birthday. We went out to eat at a place called Cheddar's. There's a new one in Wichita, but we hadn't been there yet. After lunch, we went to the Oklahoma Aquarium. One the way out, Callie snapped a picture with her cell phone. Angie nearly cried when she learned that Callie has her in her "fab five" labeled "sis." We're really glad we decided to be bigs so long ago.

Before we dropped her off at her house, we played around with her new puppy, Max. He's already much bigger than Harley and is only a few weeks old!

Our time in Tulsa was great but the drive down and back was an adventure (Attention Oklahoma officials: some of the highways in Oklahoma, especially the ramp linking I-244 East with US412 West in Tulsa, are in horrid condition). There's been an enormous amount of rain in the region lately causing many roads and highways to flood, including this portion of the Kansas Turnpike just north of the Oklahoma border. Maintenance crews were out to warn us as traffic slowed to a crawl. We were hugging the dividing wall and the right side tires were still in the water. Angie shot this image out the passenger side. Notice a pole sticking up; that's where the edge of the roadway is.
