Angie and Mike's Blog

Angie's Uncle Mike and Aunt Barb lost their home and possessions in a fire a couple of weeks ago. The house had been in the family for a long time. Angie's paternal grandparents lived in the farmhouse near Walnut, in southeast Kansas, before Mike and Barb moved in. Today, we drove to Walnut for a benefit luncheon as they rebuild their lives. Before we came home, we stopped by to see what was left. Her grandparents had a large family. Angie vividly remembers trying to cram 40-some people for holiday meals in the two-story farmhouse. "Every Easter, every Thanksgiving, every Christmas ... we were in that house," she said as she surveyed what remained.
